Bring Your School

A major part of the experience of Power Shift Canada will be being surrounded and energized by hundreds of other inspiring leaders from around the country who are all working in their schools and communities for real change. By recruiting young people from your community to attend this event, as well as fundraising and spreading awareness, you will ensure that young people make an active impact on the political process to solve climate change. And if you sign up with a group of ten or more you qualify for a group discount of up to ten dollars off your registration feeds

3 Tips for Starting Recruiting

1. Set a Goal

Think about the resources you have available, the level of enthusiasm in your

community, and how much you can realistically commit to. Then, set a goal for your group — try to fill a bus to come to the event! Definitely make sure you have a number in mind.

2. Tell Your Friends

Make a list of friends who should know about Power Shift Canada and are likely to agree to join you. Call them up, send an e-mail, or better yet tell them about the conference in person. Next, get them registered and pumped up about helping recruit!

Then, of those people on your list, pick your “top 15” to zero in on. These people are the ones who you think could be most helpful: people to recruit, or who could help with logistics, or those who could bring in some cash and get you to the conference! Reach out through an e-mail or face-to-face contact- don’t forget to ask them to register!

3. Connect with Groups

Make a list of all the organizations, centres, institutions, etc you want to connect with about Power Shift Canada. What groups would help spread the word, or bring a delegation of youth to the conference, or support local fundraising?

Once you’ve made your list, reach out to these groups with e-mails, phone calls, but most important face to face!
